⚡ Important — Electrical Safety
All electrical work in New Zealand must be carried out by a registered electrician. Every electrician we send is registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) and licensed to carry out the work. We never subcontract to unregistered trades. Visit ewrb.govt.nz to verify any electrician’s registration.
One Electrician. Eight Jobs. No Runaround.
Quick answer: We handle all residential and light commercial electrical work across Auckland — switchboard upgrades, fault finding, new circuits, EV charger installation, lighting upgrades, RCD installation, smoke alarms, and heat pump wiring for Healthy Homes compliance. One call gets the right person on site.
Most people end up making three or four calls before they find an electrician who’s actually available, actually qualified for the job, and will actually give them a straight price upfront. Then you wait. Then someone turns up who subcontracts the work out to someone you’ve never met.
We don’t do that. Every electrician we send is EWRB-registered, we give you a fixed quote before a single tool comes out of the bag, and we respond within one working day. For landlords across Remuera, Mt Eden, and Takapuna to homeowners in Titirangi and Flat Bush — that’s what we do, every time.
Electrical Services We Cover
All work carried out by EWRB-registered electricians. Fixed quote every time.
01 — Switchboard Upgrades
Older Auckland homes — especially villas and bungalows in Grey Lynn, Ponsonby, and Kingsland — often have ceramic fuse boards that haven’t been touched since the 1970s. They don’t support modern load demands and they’re a fire risk. We replace them with modern consumer units, circuit breakers, and RCDs to current standards.
All switchboard work is certified and documented. You get the paperwork.
02 — Fault Finding & Repairs
Tripping breakers, dead power points, lights that flicker under load, partial outages after a storm — we find the fault and fix it properly, not temporarily. We carry common parts on the van so most standard faults are resolved in a single visit.
We don’t charge you to look and leave. We come to fix it.
03 — New Circuits & Power Points
Adding a home office, converting a garage, setting up an outdoor kitchen — if you need a new dedicated circuit or additional power points, we scope and quote the full job. All new circuits are added to your switchboard properly, not daisy-chained off an existing one.
Neat, code-compliant work with full documentation.
04 — EV Charger Installation
Home EV charging needs a dedicated circuit and the right charger for your vehicle and panel capacity. We assess your switchboard, install the dedicated circuit, mount and wire your charger, and certify the work. We handle Wallbox, Hypervolt, and most major brands across Auckland.
A proper EV install protects your car warranty and your home insurance.
05 — Lighting Upgrades
LED downlight installation, sensor lighting for carparks and entrances, exterior security lighting, and smart lighting circuits. We replace halogen fittings, fix poorly wired DIY jobs, and install clean, code-compliant lighting throughout. Common in North Shore townhouses and Epsom homes being freshened up for sale or rental.
Every lighting job is tested, certified, and signed off before we leave.
06 — RCD / Safety Switch Installation
Residual current devices (RCDs) are now required on all new residential electrical work in New Zealand and are strongly recommended on any rental property. Many Auckland rentals — particularly pre-2000 homes in Manukau, Henderson, and Pakuranga — don’t have them. We assess your board and install RCDs on all circuits that need them.
RCD installation is one of the most cost-effective safety improvements you can make to a rental property.
07 — Smoke Alarm Installation
New Zealand rental properties must have working smoke alarms — interconnected alarms are now the standard for most rental configurations. We install photoelectric smoke alarms to the required placement specifications, hardwired or long-life battery depending on your property. Full documentation provided for your tenancy files.
Compliant installation with written records — sorted in a single visit for most properties.
08 — Heat Pump Installation (Healthy Homes)
The Healthy Homes heating standard requires a fixed heater sized to heat the main living room to 18°C — an undersized unit fails the standard regardless of brand or cost. We handle the full electrical side of heat pump installation: dedicated circuit, correct cable sizing, isolator switch, and compliance certification. We work alongside our Healthy Homes team for full standard coverage.
Full electrical installation documented to Healthy Homes requirements.

Electrical Work for Landlords — Made Straightforward
Every electrician we send is EWRB-registered. That matters more than most landlords realise. Unlicensed electrical work isn’t just a safety risk — it can void your insurance, create liability at the Tenancy Tribunal, and leave you with work that fails a future inspection. We don’t take shortcuts, and we don’t send anyone we wouldn’t put our name to.
We can batch electrical work across your portfolio. Managing four rentals across Mt Roskill, Papatoetoe, and New Lynn? We schedule electrical inspections and installations across all of them, coordinate around tenancies, and give you a single scope document covering every property. Less chasing, lower per-property cost, one point of contact throughout.
Fixed quote before any work starts. Not a ballpark. Not an estimate subject to change. A fixed quote covering everything in scope — so the invoice at the end matches what you signed off on at the start.
Full documentation after every job. Compliance certificates, installation records, and test results issued after every job. Keep these with your property files — if a tenant or insurer ever asks whether the work was done properly, you’ll have the paperwork to prove it.

Electrical Services FAQs — Auckland Homeowners & Landlords
Do I need a registered electrician for all electrical work in New Zealand?
Yes. In New Zealand, all prescribed electrical work must be carried out by a registered electrician — someone registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB). This covers virtually all wiring, switchboard work, new circuits, and fixed appliance installation. DIY electrical work beyond very minor tasks is illegal and can void your home insurance. Every electrician we send is EWRB-registered.
How much does a switchboard upgrade cost in Auckland?
A standard switchboard replacement in an Auckland home — removing an old ceramic fuse board and replacing it with a modern consumer unit with circuit breakers and RCDs — typically runs between $1,500 and $3,500 depending on the number of circuits and the condition of the existing wiring. We'll assess your board and give you a fixed price before any work starts.
How much does EV charger installation cost?
EV charger installation in Auckland typically runs between $800 and $2,500 for a standard home install, depending on the distance from your switchboard to the garage, whether your panel needs upgrading, and which charger unit you're installing. We assess your switchboard capacity first — if it needs upgrading to support the new circuit, we'll include that in your fixed quote.
What smoke alarms are required in New Zealand rental properties?
Rental properties in New Zealand must have working smoke alarms. The requirements specify placement in every bedroom and in every room between a bedroom and an exit. Interconnected alarms — where they all sound together when one triggers — are now strongly recommended and may be required depending on the property configuration. We install photoelectric alarms to the correct specification and provide documentation for your tenancy file.
Can you carry out electrical work across multiple rental properties?
Yes. We batch electrical inspections and installations across landlord portfolios regularly. If you have three or four properties that need switchboard checks, smoke alarm installs, or RCD upgrades, we can schedule all of them together, reduce per-property cost, and give you a single scope document covering everything. One call, one company, one set of paperwork.
What documentation do I get after electrical work is completed?
How quickly can you respond to an electrical fault?
We respond to all enquiries within one working day. For active faults — partial power loss, tripping breakers that won't reset, exposed wiring — we treat these as priority and aim to get someone on site as fast as possible. Call 0800 199 888 for urgent electrical faults.
Do I need an electrician to install a heat pump for Healthy Homes?
Yes. The electrical connection of a heat pump — dedicated circuit, correct cable sizing, isolator switch — must be carried out by a registered electrician. We handle all electrical installation for heat pumps as part of our Healthy Homes compliance service, and can coordinate with our broader Healthy Homes team to cover all five standards in a single visit.
